Mixed Pea Soup Recipes
Split peas with Curry
1 lb yellow and green split pea mix
1 large onion, diced
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
6 cups water or chicken stock
3 large carrots, diced
1 tablespoon Arizona Spice Company Curry powder
salt and pepper (optional)
Saute onions in oil in large stock pot until just translucent. Medium heat about 3 munites. Add the water or stock, peas, curry powder. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer about 45 minutes. Peas do not maintain
their shape.
Ham and Split Pea Soup
1 lb yellow and green split pea soup mix with SW Seasoning
3 large carrots, diced
1/3 cup Arizona Spice Company Soup Seasoning Mix
1 bay leaf
1 cup ham diced
2 medium russett potatoes, diced
Salt and pepper to taste (optional)
7 cups water
Add all ingredients to a large sauce pot. Stir well and bring to a boil. Simmer, covered, about 45 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove the bay leaf and discard before serving.
You can substitute chicken broth for the ham, or leave the ham out all together. The flavor is still very good in this soup. Nice easy dish.
To save work and time put either of these recipe in the slow cooker or crock pot.
